Three Freshmen Named Academic All-WAC

FRESNO, Calif. - The Western Athletic Conference named the 2008-09 Transfer and Freshmen Academic All-WAC team and the Fresno State soccer team placed three freshmen on the team. Laura Dodd, Molly Nizzoli and Kendall VanDine earned Academic All-WAC honors along with seven of the their teams that were named in the fall. Student-athletes must obtain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, compete in at least 50 percent games and complete at least one academic year in order to earn All-WAC honors. VanDine appeared in all 22 games as a freshman was also named Second Team All-WAC defender and helped the Bulldogs record 11 shutouts. Nizzoli also earned Second Team All-WAC honors as a midfielder and played in every game this past season. She recorded three assists and scored four goals and is in ninth place in Fresno State history for goals scored for a freshman. Another midfielder, Dodd scored one goal and recorded one assist in 21 games as a freshman. The following soccer players, Megan Ashjian, Selena Gill, Nicole Gutierrez, Alex Jensen, Krissy Looney, Kaitlyn Revel and Lauren Satterlee, also earned Academic All-WAC honors in the fall.
