FRESNO, Calif. ---Fresno State assistant women's soccer coach Lauren McAdam was announced as a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America 30 Under 30 Program by the Association on Wednesday.
"I am looking to continuously grow and develop and I think that the 30 under 30 Program is the perfect ingredient to continue me on that path," said McAdam. "I look forward to the mentorship and invaluable information I will receive from this program."
In a pool of over 600 applicants, McAdam was announced as one of 30 (15 women and 15 men) who will participate in the 2014-15 cohort of the NSCAA 30 Under 30 Program.
"Taking account of your own development is an extremely important part of the job for a professional coach, our game is evolving all the time and doesn't wait around for anyone," said Fresno State head coach Brian Zwaschka on McAdam's achievement. "I am thrilled for Lauren to have this opportunity to expand her knowledge and skill set."
McAdam joined the Bulldogs as an assistant coach in July 2013 after a three year stint at Nevada. Specializing as a goalie coach, McAdam helped the squad to a second place finish in Mountain West during her first season at Fresno State.
"She is on a great path and our program stands to benefit immensely from her own curiosity and desire to improve," added Zwaschka of McAdam. "I think it is a terrific program put together by the NSCAA and certainly wish it were an option when I was that age. I think it speaks volumes for the interest in development of soccer in the US, which has to be heavily influenced by our young coaches."
Launched in 2013, the NSCAA 30 Under 30 Program is a year-long education and mentorship opportunity for a select few up-and-comers who have made soccer coaching their career of choice. This program was created to support young coaches and foster their growth at a crucial point in their vocation.
