FRESNO, Calif.- Head coach Brian Zwaschka announced Monday that he is bringing aboard Sean Steele as an assistant coach on the Fresno State soccer team as they enter into their 2014 season.
"I'm truly pleased that Sean has decided to move his family across the country to join us here in California, and we will all certainly look forward to helping them get settled and integrated, Zwaschka said.
With more than 15 years of experience, Zwaschka feels as if Steele is the missing link that the Bulldogs need. His past experience includes assisting at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh before he became the head coach for both the men's and women's soccer teams at Nebraska Wesleyan for the past three seasons.
"Sean has been dedicated to success everywhere he has been to success everywhere he has been and has diligently worked to develop his teams and his own coaching in each instance," Zwaschka states. "His determination and appetite for work are evident. His current and relevant experience, dedication to development, his background in technology and education, and his professional ambitions all aligned with my expectations very clearly in the selection process."
Steele's primary responsibilities will include all aspects of preparation for performance included in team training and tracking player development. Steele will also assist with team travel, recruiting, camps, community relations, video and scouting, amongst other program performance and operations duties.
"Sean is organized, professional, and concise, which is what I require, and his approach with his ideas is thoughtful," Zwaschka says. "He will undoubtedly hit the ground running and I am confident his influence in the coming season and future seasons alike will be invaluable in support of my vision for where this program can go. This is a special time in our program's history, and along with Lauren and our other excellent support staff, Sean can be a big part of shaping it."
