FRESNO, Calif. --- The White squad topped the Red 2-1 in the annual Fresno State intersquad scrimmage on Saturday evening at the Soccer and Lacrosse Field. Saturday's match marked the first time the 'Dogs have competed head-to-head since reporting for camp on Wednesday.

"I think that there were a lot of really good things considering what we have only been working together for three days," said head coach Brian Zwaschka. "We are impressed by the effort by everybody to execute the things that we have been addressing."

Junior Jaycee Bingham was the first Bulldog to score, putting the White team up 1-0 with two minutes left in the half.

The Red team tied the game at 1-1 just eight minutes into the second half with a goal from Forward Tara Boynton. Shortly after, Morgan Castain crossed the goalie over to score on an open net, putting the White team up 2-1.

The White squad was able to hold off the Red Squad to win the game for the second consecutive year.

"We have a team that has some creativity and composure on the ball," said Zwaschka. "Maturity from the younger players is evident, and the leadership from the older players is showing up both on and off the field. Those are all things to be excited about."

The Bulldogs return to the field in one week to host UC Irvine for a preseason exhibition on Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. Soccer/Lacrosse field.
