About the Bruins (1-0-0)
The Bruins are ranked No. 4/5 in the season polls as head coach B.J Snow enters his second year at the helm of the Bruins. Snow led UCLA to a 16-1-4 overall record in his first season as head coach in 2011, helping the Bruins reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
About the Matadors (2-0-0)
The Matadors enter 2012 looking to build on its recent success by earning the program's first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament. The team returns 18 letterwinners and eight starters from last season's squad that finished 7-10-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the Big West Conference. Leading the charge for CSUN is a group of nine seniors who have helped lift the program to new heights. Cynthia Jacobo (GK) and Katie Russ (D) both were named to the 2012 All-Big West Preseason Team and anchor a perennially stringent Matador defense.
Hancock Back At It
Callie Hancock led the Bulldogs during the opening weekend on the road. She recorded both of the goals scored by the 'Dogs. This moves Hancock up the Fresno State all-time goals scored list to be tied for sixth with 16 goals. Hancock will look to top her total of 12 goals a season ago.
DeVault Leads Conference
Sophomore Katie DeVault returns this year for the 'Dogs between the pipes. During the opening weekend against UC Davis and San Francisco, she recorded a total of 11 saves which tops the Mountain West leaderboard.
Junior Rachel Armstrong recorded her first assist as a Bulldog against UC Davis during opening weekend. Armstrong transferred from Diablo Valley College and looks to bring plenty of experience to the Fresno State line up.
Castain Fires Away
Morgan Castain is tied for fourth in the Mountain West in shots (6) after the opening weekend. She also recorded an assist in the game versus San Francisco.
