FRESNO, Calif. ---The Fresno State soccer team is set for the home opener against No. 4/5 UCLA tonight at 7 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium. Free Fresno State ice cream will be served starting at 6 p.m. for all who attend. The first 100 Greek students to attend will receive a free Frenso State Greek tank.
GoBulldogs.com caught up with Coach Z and several of the players to talk about their anticipation and excitement for tonight's game and what they think it will take to win.
Head Coach Brian Zwaschka "The most important thing is that we stick to the philosophy of attacking the goal and try to actually win games and not just stay in them. If we play the way we know we can play and keep the ball and work hard for each other with the commitment to get to the goal, there's no doubt in my mind that we can create scoring chances and we just need to turn those into goals."
# 19 Callie Hancock, Senior "I think we are doing all of the right things. We've had a lot of combinations with the players up top as well as the players on the outsides. We need to focus on our service from the wide positions as well as our combinations to make sure that we give ourselves the chance for good shots."
#7 Alyssa Cruz, Freshman "I'm very excited and hoping that we are going to get our first win out of this game. Hopefully we will have a big crowd. I've been telling everyone that I see, when I'm on campus and in all of my classes, that our game is here and that they should come out and support us. Being from Visalia, I have a lot of family coming up and I am excited for them to watch us play."
#23 Lauren Lindstrom, Junior "The more fans we have, the more it really amps us up and when there is a really big crowd cheering us on it makes it so much fun to play and we perform a lot better. Bulldog fans please come out and support us when we take on UCLA!"
#4 Savannah Roberson, Freshman "I have family coming and I am just really excited to play for the first time in Bulldog Stadium and hopefully we get a good outcome. We want to have a lot of fans to create a great atmosphere. I think that we are good under pressure and we are going to try to play our game and not theirs (UCLA)."
