Iowa City, Iowa - The Fresno State soccer team dropped its first game of the weekend to Iowa, 3-0 this evening at the University of Iowa Soccer Stadium.

After a scoreless first half the Hawkeyes grabbed the lead with an unassisted shot from top scorer Cloe Lacasse, 50 seconds into the second half. Lacasse scored again with approximately 20 minutes left on the clock, followed the final Hawkeye goal made in the 71st minute.

"We still really played with a lot of energy," head coach Brian Zwaschka said. "I think the fact that we didn't score any goals is very deceiving because we created a lot of dangerous chances and credit to Iowa for keeping a clean sheet because we were definitely knocking on the door."

With a total of 10 shots and four saves by Iowa's goalkeeper, the Bulldogs were unable to net a goal and fell to Iowa 3-0.

The `Dogs will now travel west to Des Moines, Iowa for the final game of the weekend.

Zwaschka, a Des Moines native, will lead the Bulldogs to a match against his alma mater rival, Drake University, on Sunday Aug. 31. The game will be held at the Crownie Soccer Complex with a slated 10 a.m. start time.

"It will be very enjoyable for me personally to be coaching in Des Moines and bringing my team there," Zwaschka said. "As a group we know the things we've been working on we are getting better at we just haven't quite broken the ice, but we're really looking forward to Sunday because of the idea that we feel like we have solved a few pieces of the puzzle."

The Fresno State soccer team returns home on Friday Sept. 12 after another pair of road matches visiting UC Irvine Sept. 7 and Santa Clara Sept. 7.
