DeVault Named MW Defensive Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- Fresno State junior Katie DeVault was named Mountain West Defensive Player of the week for the second consecutive week on Monday.

The junior goalkeeper recorded seven saves over the weekend, leading the Bulldogs to a pair of conference wins at home over Utah State (1-0, OT) and Boise State (2-1) to improve the 'Dogs record to 7-7-1, 4-2 MW.

With four saves against Utah State, DeVault helped the Bulldogs to their fourth shutout of the year over the Aggies (1-0, OT). DeVault also recorded three saves in Fresno State's victory over Boise State on Sunday and led the 'Dogs to their fourth straight conference win.

The Santa Ana, Calif. native leads the Mountain West with 69 saves this season, and ranks second with a save percentage of .821. With 297 career saves, DeVault now sits solely in second on the Fresno State saves list.

This is the third career MW weekly award for DeVault and seventh Fresno State MW weekly accolade under head coach Brian Zwaschka.

Fresno State next plays at Wyoming on Friday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. PT, and then travels to play Air Force on Sunday Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. PT. The 'Dogs then return home to host first-year program Colorado State for Senior Day in Bulldog Stadium on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.
