FRESNO, Calif. - The roll continued for the Fresno State softball team on Friday as the Dogs beat Bradley 2-0 and Idaho State 5-1 in quick fashion at Bulldog Diamond.
With the pair of victories, Fresno State improved to 11-4 on the season and 3-0 in the 2011 Bayer CropScience Classic.
"I think we are doing well in this tournament," junior pitcher/first baseman Michelle Moses said. "We just need to take this momentum and run with it."
Moses launched a first-inning 250-foot two-run home run through a black oak tree behind the berm of the left field fence for the all the runs the Bulldogs needed to put away the Bradley Braves in Fresno State's first win of the day.
"My mentality is to put the bat on the ball," Moses noted. "It felt really good. Nothing feels quite like that."
In the nightcap, senior Nicole Angene earned her first start since her freshman season in 2008 and pitched for the duration of the 5-1 win against the Bengals. The performance upped her career pitching clip to 6-2.
"We want to have everybody ready," Wright said of her pitching arsenal which includes Angene, Moses, Mackenzie Oakes (who earned the win against Bradley) and senior Ashley Cox. "Nicole's good and did a great job tonight. She's a competitor and wants to win."
For Angene, the outing marked her second appearance of the season after throwing 5.1 innings against Long Beach State last weekend.
"The Long Beach State game was a little warm up to get adjusted again but I felt more comfortable tonight," Angene said after the Bulldogs' sweep.
Fresno State (11-4) has won its past three games and will face Drake at 5 p.m. as well as Troy at 7 p.m on Saturday in day three action of the four-day annual tournament.
