FRESNO, Calif. - It's a blend of grit and fire that's been ignited inside a determined and explosive Bulldog softball team.

Fresno State defeated both Drake and Troy by the score of 2-1 on Saturday evening at Bulldog Diamond to improve to 5-0 in the 2011 Bayer CropScience Classic.

"We've been doing excellent," head coach Margie Wright noted of the team's performance this week. "We've had timely hitting and the short game has gone really well."

Michelle Moses (5-2) earned the win in the circle against Drake and Mackenzie Oakes (7-2) picked up the win versus Troy. Three Bulldogs - Courtney Moore, Andrea Ortega and Caitlin Stiglich - slugged doubles against Drake and Moses clubbed her fifth home run of the season to straight away center field in the nightcap with the Trojans.

"We have really proved ourselves so far this week and it would be nice to take our own tournament," Stiglich added.

On the week, Moses sports a 0.00 earned run average in her two complete games victories while fanning 24 and Oakes owns a 0.64 ERA in her two complete games wins.

The Bulldogs' hot play this week at home has set the stage for a showdown with No. 11/11 California on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.

"Cal is always a great team and we want to take our momentum into tomorrow," Stiglich said.

Another opportunity to return to the field also put a smile on Moses' face.

"We're excited for another day at the ball park tomorrow," Moses beamed. "We had our bumps in San Diego and we've come back strong."

For Wright, who moved one win away from her 1,400th career victory in a 32-year Division I head coaching tenure after the Saturday victories, the chance to play another ranked team is business as usual.

"It's going to be a great game and we're going to play our guts out, that's the way it is," Wright said of the Dogs playing their fourth opponent this year ranked in the Top 25 at the time of the game.

Fresno State (13-4) already owns two wins over Top 20 teams. The Bulldogs downed 2010 Women's College Worlds Series participant and then-No. 8 Missouri 6-3 as well as then-No. 19 Oklahoma State 4-3 earlier this season.
