FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State softball team (13-10) lost its first game of Saturday's third-day action in the Fresno State Classic to Cal Poly (13-6) by a 6-1 score.

The `Dogs scored their run in the third inning after a double by senior center fielder Brenna Moss to left center field - her second in the last four games. The All-MW returnee scored two batters later on a single by senior right fielder Michelle Solomon to right field.

Moss (2-for-3) logged her team-leading 11th multi-hit effort of the season, while Solomon (1-for-3) hit safely for the third straight game.

The Bakersfield, Calif., native Moss added her team-leading 10th steal of the season in the first inning - also her 55th career-wise and still second-best all-time for the `Dogs.

The Mustangs scored five runs in the third inning thanks to a walk, two hit by pitches, infield error, two fielder's choices and three singles.

Cal Poly's final run came in the fourth after three singles and a sacrifice fly.

Among the defensive highlights, the `Dogs claimed their eighth and ninth double plays of the year in the third and fifth innings, respectively, while Moss added a diving catch to start the second inning.

In the circle, sophomore Hannah Harris (3-4) pitched the opening 2.1 innings, posted no strikeouts, one walk and three hits allowed, and four of her five runs allowed were earned.

In her 12th relief appearance of the campaign, sophomore Taylor Langdon entered in the third inning with the bases loaded and one out. In her inning of work, she struck out none, walked none, and allowed four hits and one earned run.

Redshirt sophomore Kiley Shae Aldridge finished her third game of the season, and logged one strikeout and three hits allowed, and was credited with no runs allowed in the final 3.2 innings (also her third-longest stint of the year).



Cal Poly starter Sierra Hyland pitched her 12th complete game, struck out eight, walked one, and allowed three hits and one earned run.

The Mustangs had three players with a pair of hits - Lauren Moreno (2-for-3), Sierra Hyland (2-for-4) and Kim Westlund (2-for-4).

Looking ahead, the Bulldogs play New Mexico State later Saturday night and St. Mary's on Sunday at 3:45 p.m.

The other four games scheduled for Sunday include Ohio State-Colorado State (9 a.m.), Cal Poly-New Mexico State (11:15 a.m.) and Cal Poly-St. Mary's (1:30 p.m.).
