FULLERTON, Calif. - It took a little longer than the Bulldogs would have liked but the 24th-ranked Fresno State softball team recorded a 1-0 victory over Utah when Ashley White collected the game-winning hit with a one-out RBI double in the bottom of the seventh at the Judi Garman Classic.

With scoreless ball and only nine hits collected from both teams combined, junior catcher Nichole Willis got things going in the final frame. With one out, Willis singled to center field before freshman hurler Robin Mackin drew a walk. With runners on first and second, White lifted the ball to left and it sailed high above the Utes' left fielder's head before bouncing on the warning track. The extra base hit allowed Willis to easily score from second and give the Bulldogs a 1-1 record in tournament play.

After dropping a close game to No. 6 Alabama just hours before, Mackin scattered four hits, walked one and struck out nine to earn the victory and improve to 14-6 overall.

Fresno State (17-10) closes out pool play tomorrow afternoon against No. 14 Oklahoma at 1:30 p.m.
