    SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Fresno State softball team concluded the Capital Classic with a 3-2 loss to St. Mary's. The Bulldogs (17-13, 0-0 MW) had a 2-2 mark in their final non-conference tournament of 2013.

    The Bulldogs outhit the Gaels 6-5. Michelle Solomon led the 'Dogs with two hits. The sophomore has recorded eight multi-hit games this season.

    Taylor Langdon threw three scoreless innings and surrendered three unearned runs in her fifth start. The freshman is now 6-2 in the circle and has an ERA of 1.45.

    In the fourth inning, St. Mary's broke up the scoreless game by scoring one run on a double to center field. The Gaels added two more runs to lead 3-0.

    The Bulldogs answered by capitalizing on a pair of errors to score two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Diane Runge scored on a throwing error by the catcher as Kapri Angotti stole second. Paige Gumz moved Angotti over with a single and she scored on another Gaels throwing error.

    Jill Compton took over in the circle in the fifth inning and struck out four Gael batters in two innings of scoreless work.

     

     

    The `Dogs return to Bulldog Diamond on Wednesday, March 20 against Pacific at 6 p.m.
