FULLERTON, Calif. - Michelle Moses had a career-high 12 strikeouts in her second career complete game to pick up her third win of the year in an 8-2 victory over New Mexico in the final game of the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif., Sunday afternoon.

The `Dogs improve to 19-11 on the year and finish the tournament 3-2.

Moses pitched 7.0 innings and allowed just two hits and two runs, one unearned. Her previous career high in strikeouts was eight.

"I felt really good and really strong today," Moses said.

The Lobos scored one run in the first on an error.

Haley Gilleland doubled to lead off the bottom of the first and Andrea Ortega reached on error. Three-straight singles by Moses, Courtney Moore and Caitlin Stiglich gave the `Dogs a 3-0 lead.

With just one out in the first, UNM pitcher Kari Gutierrez left the game. She allowed five runs on four hits and picked up the loss. She was replaced by Samanta Gatson who, in 5.2 innings, allowed three runs on six hits and had five strikeouts.

Nicole Angene doubled followed by a Becca Walker triple, her second of the year. Gilleland reached on an error as Walker scored and the `Dogs went out to a 7-1 lead.

"I thought it was great how we came out swinging the bats early and really put them on the defensive right away," said head coach Margie Wright. "I thought our team did very well defensively. Michelle pitched a great game and it was a great way to end the tournament."

A solo home run by Moses to left center led off the Bulldog second inning for an 8-1 score.

A solo home run by Cristin Anderson in the top of the third to left center scored the second run for UNM. It was the first hit off of Moses in the game.

The `Dogs had 10 hits in the game, led by Moses with four. Eight Bulldogs reached base in the first inning alone and seven different Bulldogs scored.

"I was seeing the ball really well," Moses added. "After last night, it feels really good to come out her and do what I know I can do."
