The No. 23 Fresno State softball team was looking to pull one out at the end but Nevada stifled any thoughts and came away with a 2-1 win.

Nevada (12-21, 1-2 WAC) broke the Bulldogs' 15-game Western Athletic Conference win streak. The Wolf Pack struck first with a solo home run in the fourth by shortstop Brittany Lorenzen before getting an insurance run in the sixth, courtesy of a wild pitch.

Freshman right hander Robin Mackin (16-8) took the loss despite striking out nine batters. Scattering eight hits, she also walked one and yielded the go ahead run in the sixth with two outs and the bases loaded.

Nevada pitcher Jordan McPherson, who lost the first two games of the series, picked up the win. She allowed just three hits, walked one and struck out three to go to 8-11 on the season.

Fresno State picked up a run in the bottom of the sixth and threatened for some more with two outs on the board. Freshman third baseman Haley Perkins, who went 2-3 for the day, singled through the left side to get things going. Freshman designated player Merryann Barr then walked. With senior right fielder Daisy Gaynor coming in to pinch run for Barr, sophomore first baseman Kristin Sylvester delivered a RBI single to right to score Perkins while moving Gaynor to third. However, McPherson got junior catcher Nichole Willis to ground out on the first pitch to the shortstop to end the Bulldogs' threat.

The game was pushed back for two hours and 16 minutes after rain came through the area late morning.

In the circle, Mackin went 1-1 with 27 strikeouts in 16.0 innings while Barr went 1-0 with five strikeouts in 5.0 innings.
