    LAS VEGAS - Senior Diane Runge hit her first career home run against UNLV as Fresno State softball lost the second game of the series 8-2 on Saturday afternoon at Eller Media Stadium.

    The Bulldogs outhit the Rebels 13-11 and sophomore Maria Sio led the way with three hits. Also recording a multi-hit game was Runge, Whitney Smith and Kapri Angotti.

    UNLV struck first with three runs in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. Runge put the `Dogs on the board in the third inning with an inside the park home run that rolled past the center fielder to the wall. The Rebels increased their lead 5-1 over the Bulldogs with a two-run home run over the center field fence in the bottom of half of the inning.

    Third baseman Vonnie Martin plated a run in the fifth inning as the `Dogs trailed 5-2. UNLV scored their final run in the fifth inning extending its lead 6-2.

    Freshman Jill Compton struck out six in her 20 start of the season. She hurled 5.1 innings against the Rebels.

    The Bulldogs conclude the series with UNLV on Sunday, April 7 at 1 p.m. at Eller Media Stadium. Follow the action on GameTracker or live streaming.
