BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Fresno State softball rallied for two runs in the seventh inning after Michelle Solomon hit a two-run blast over the left field fence, but CSU Bakersfield ruined the rally with a walk-off single to win 5-4.
CSU Bakersfield took an early 1-0 lead after three hits in the first inning. The Roadrunners added another run in the third inning extending their to 2-0 over the `Dogs. The Bulldogs stopped the Runners momentum in the third inning with a double play. Fresno State has 16 double plays on the season.
In the fourth inning, Stesha Brazil hit a solo home run to center field to start the inning. A double from Martin, a single from Whitney Smith and a walk by Maria Sio loaded the bases for Angotti. She drove in the tying run with single as the `Dogs headed to the fifth inning tied 2-2.
The Roadrunners regained the lead with one run on two hits in the fifth inning. The lead lasted only half an inning before Solomon hit her fourth home run of the season giving the `Dogs a 4-3 advantage.
In the bottom of the seventh inning the Roadrunners tied the game with a RBI double and a single brought in the winning the run.
Freshman Jill Compton recorded five strikeouts in four innings of work.
The Bulldogs return to Mountain West action April 12-14 hosting Boise State at Bulldog Diamond.
