LONG BEACH, Calif. - Fresno State softball fell to Long Beach State 4-3 and 3-2 in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at the 49ers Softball Complex. The Bulldogs (30-24, 11-7 MW) come backs in both games were halted by the 49ers, who won both games by one run.
"Obviously, it's not the way we wanted to end things, but I am proud of what the team was able to accomplish this year," said head coach Trisha Ford. "We set some new records, which is not an easy thing to do. We fought hard until the end and showed a lot of heart."
The `Dogs tallied 10 hits in two games against LBSU and outhit the 49ers 6-3 in the second game. Stesha Brazil recorded the only Bulldog multi-hit game after going 2-for-3 in the night cap. Brazil, Vonnie Martin and Michelle Solomon hit home runs Saturday afternoon.
"The home runs were great, but we didn't do as good of a job of putting the ball into play and putting pressure on the defense as I would've like to see," Ford said. "When we were putting pressure on the defense good things happen"
Brenna Moss scored the first run of the day on an error giving the `Dogs a 1-0 lead in the first. Long Beach State evened the score in the second inning after hitting an RBI double to left center field.
