`Dogs Hit The Road For First Time In 2013

By Theresa Kurtz FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State softball hits the road this weekend after starting 2013 with a seven-game home stand. The Bulldogs take their 6-1 record and head south for the Gaucho Classic I hosted by UC Santa Barbara. The `Dogs face the Gauchos, the SEC's Missouri and San Diego in the tournament, which is Feb. 15-17 at Campus Diamond. Scouting the Gaucho Classic I Missouri: Fresno State has an all-time record of 9-0 against Missouri. The last meeting was in 2011 and the 'Dogs won 6-3. The Tigers open the 2013 season at the Gaucho Classic. Missouri ended the 2012 campaign with a 47-14 record. Bailey Erwin returns to the circle in 2013 for the Tigers. She struck out 57 in 74.2 innings of work. Erwin had a 8-0 record and four complete games in eight starts and 23 appearances. Nicole Hudson hit .301 a year ago with 11 doubles, seven home runs and 36 RBI. San Diego: The Bulldogs overall series against San Diego is tied 1-1. The last meeting was in 2012 and the 'Dogs lost 6-4. The Toreros are off to a 1-1 start after hosting McNeese State for a two-game series. Dana Prelsnik is hitting .600 after two starts in 2013. The Toreros are hitting .308 with a pair of doubles and three RBI. Cassidy Coleman has a 1-0 record with five strikeouts after her first start of the season. She has a 0.00 ERA and a complete game shutout.
