SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Due to inclement weather, the Fresno State softball team's first day of competition at the San Diego Classic was cancelled.

Tournament organizers released a new scheduled for Saturday, and it features Fresno State facing Illinois-Chicago at 11 am. at SDSU, vs. Utah at 6:30 p.m. at USD.

The 'Dogs were originally scheduled to face Illinois-Chicago Friday at 9 a.m. and BYU at 2 p.m., but storms in the San Diego area prevented play.

A complete tourney schedule is available at the San Diego Classic Tournament Page.

As with Fresno State (10-5), UIC (2-11) has yet to play any games in the event.

On Thursday evening, the Cougars (7-10) opened play in the tourney with a 6-3 win over No. 2 Tennessee (14-1), thanks to a three-run seventh inning. The Cougars also lost to San Diego State, 2-0, in its other action Thursday.

The 'Dogs faced the No. 2 Volunteers in Cathedral City last Sunday, and UT came back from a 4-1 deficit after three innings for a narrow 5-4 victory.
