FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State softball hosts Pacific for a midweek game on Wednesday, March 20 at 6 p.m. in Bulldog Diamond. The Bulldogs return home after four games on the road.
The Fresno State vs. Pacific series began in 1978 with four meetings. The Bulldogs swept the Tigers in the first year of the series posting a 4-0 record. The `Dogs lead the all-time series record with a mark of 78-22-1. Pacific won the last meeting 5-4 in 2011.
Scouting the Tigers
Pacific has an overall mark of 15-15 and is 3-4 on the road. The Tigers are hitting .271 as a team with 30 doubles, three triples, nine home runs and 111 RBI. Pacific has four in the lineup hitting .300 or better. Megan Foglesong is hitting .315 with eight extra base hits, including two home runs and 12 RBI. In the circle, Nikki Armagost has a 1.55 ERA and an 8-3 record. She leads the pitching staff with 65 strikeouts.
Fresno State Leading the Nation
Sophomore Brenna Moss is leading the nation in triples hit with six this season. She is fifth in the country in triples per game with 0.20. The outfielder is also 26th in stolen bases per game with 0.63. As a team, the Bulldogs are fourth in the country in triples per game with 0.43. Sophomore Maria Sio has 0.37 sacrifice hits per game and is 12th in the nation.
Home Is Where the Heart Is
The Bulldogs are off to a 9-2 start at Bulldog Diamond in 2013. Fresno State has an overall home record of 811-186-1 in 36 years. The best single-season home record at Bulldog Diamond is 27-0 set by the 1998 National Champion squad.
