No. 23 `Dogs Host UC Davis
March 23, 2009
FRESNO, Calif. - Fresh off of its sweep over San Jose State on Western Athletic Conference opening weekend, the No. 23 Fresno State softball team hosts UC Davis in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday beginning at 6 p.m. at Bulldog Diamond.
The `Dogs have a seven-game home winning streak dating back to the win over No. 9 Cal on March 8. Fresno State boasts a 17-12 overall record while UC Davis is 15-12 after a 9-0 victory over Cal State Bakersfield on Monday.
The two schools have only met five times in the history of the programs, once in 1983, twice in 2006 and twice in 2008. The `Dogs have won all five meetings. Last year's games were played in Davis.
The first 50 fans at Bulldog Diamond will get a free coupon for a hot dog courtesy of the Sierra Pacific Orthopedic Spine Center (SPOC). It's Clubs and Organization Night and a home run derby featuring representatives from each club will take place between the two games.
Senior Haley Perkins was named the WAC Hitter of the Week for the first time this season after batting .667 against SJSU last weekend: http://www.gobulldogs.com/sports/w-softbl/spec-rel/032309aaa.html.
