DENVER - Fresno State's Mackenzie Oakes earned her second straight Verizon Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honor after throwing two complete game victories in the Dogs' road sweep at Louisiana Tech this past weekend.

"She did a really good job at LA Tech and has pitched well all season," head coach Margie Wright said of Oakes' performance in Ruston and during the 2011 campaign. "I am very proud of her to be thought of in this matter and honored with this great award."

Oakes, a junior from Bakersfield, Calif. (Stockdale, HS), went 2-0 with a 0.44 earned run average in the pair of complete-game road wins over the Lady Techsters. This marks the third WAC honor of Oakes' career.

She tossed a Friday night complete-game shutout for a 2-0 win to open WAC play and completed the sweep for the Dogs with a nine-inning 2-1 victory in the second game on Saturday.

On the week, Oakes tossed 16.0 innings with eight strikeouts, only three walks and a lone run.

In 2011, Oakes (12-2, 2-0 WAC) sports a 1.61 earned run average over 91.1 innings during 17 appearances. The Bulldogs are now 10-0 in her 10 starts, which have all been complete games.
