FRESNO, Calif. - Junior centerfielder Brooke Phipps (Corona, Calif.) earned her first-ever Western Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week honor for her play at Boise State April 24-25.

Phipps had a career weekend vs. the Broncos as she hit a WAC-best .692 (9-of-13) with two home runs and seven RBI. She didn't walk or strike out once and was the only Bulldog to steal a base. In game one, Phipps was 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored. In game two, she had a career-high five RBI on three hits. In the final game, she went 4-for-5, including a single in the top of the eighth inning to drive in an insurance run as the Bulldogs won the game 11-8 in eight innings.

Entering the series, Phipps was hitting just .105 on the season and had just 10 hits and six RBI on the year, but in series alone, nearly doubled her hits for the season and doubled her RBI's and home runs. She also improved her batting average to a .176 on the season.

"Brooke had an awesome weekend," said head coach Margie Wright. "She hit the ball hard and it was great to see most of those hits get through. I'm very proud of her getting this award and hope it continues as we go through the end of the season."

Sophomore Meghan Krieg from Louisiana Tech was named WAC Pitcher of the Week.
