Sophomore pitcher Michelle Moses went 1-0 on the week vs. LA Tech with a complete game shutout. She had a team-high 18 strikeouts and opponents batted just .087 against her. She struck out the first 13 batters of the game setting the record for consecutive strikeouts which was previously nine set by Kristin Hunter (1999) and Robin Mackin (2006). Moses' perfect game was broken up with a one-out single in the fifth by Meghan Knowles. It was just one of two hits in the game for LA Tech.
Moses had 18 strikeouts in the game which is a new school record for total strikeouts in a seven inning game. The previous was 17 set by Mackin in vs.
Kansas in 2006.
Entering the 2010 season there were only 23 other performances of 18 strikeouts or more in NCAA history.
