Melloh Earns All-West Region Honors
May 14, 2009
FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State sophomore pitching ace Morgan Melloh (Fishers, Ind.) was one of six pitchers and 26 student-athletes to be named to the 2009 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-West Region Team. Melloh was a First Team All-West Region selection in 2008 along with Haley Gilleland and Jenna Cervantez. Aja Scheuber earned Second Team honors last year. In her sophomore campaign, Melloh posted her second-straight 400 strikeout season, becoming the first Bulldog and just the fourth pitcher in NCAA history to do so in her freshman and sophomore seasons. She helped lead the `Dogs to their 21st regular season conference title and third WAC Tournament Championship while being named First Team All-WAC and the WAC Tournament MVP. Players earning All-Region honors are then eligible for All-American honors. Melloh was a Second Team All-American her freshman year. Melloh is also one of six players from the Western Athletic Conference to make this year's team.
