    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West announced the 2013 softball all-conference team on Tuesday morning as selected by the league's seven head coaches. After its inaugural season in the MW, Jill Compton, Paige Gumz, Vonnie Martin and Brenna Moss earned All-Mountain West honors.

    It is the second all-conference honor for Martin. She hit.436 in conference action with 24 hits, three doubles and 12 RBI. Martin started every MW games and recorded a perfect fielding percentage at third base. Martin also totaled seven runs scored and five walks.

    Moss, a sophomore outfielder, earned her first all-conference accolade in 2013. She stole a conference best 13 stolen bases against MW opponents. Moss hit .358 with two triples, a home run and four RBI as the leadoff hitter for the Bulldogs.

    In her first season as a Bulldog, Gumz earned All-MW honors after starting every game behind the plate. The freshman hit .352 in Mountain West action with three doubles and eight RBI. Gumz caught three runners stealing and only had eight stolen bases against her.

    Compton was also named to the all-conference team after her first season in the circle. She finished with a 7-3 record and 2.37 ERA in league play. Compton struck out 70 batters and tossed five complete game shutouts. She dealt 21 consecutive scoreless innings to conclude conference action.

    The Bulldogs ended the 2013 season in second place with an 11-7 record. Fresno State placed the most on the 20-member all-conference team along with San Diego State and UNLV at four each.

    San Diego State, who won the conference and the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, swept the top honors. Patrice Jackson was named MW Player of the Year, Rebecca Arbino was selected MW Pitcher of the Year, Danielle O'Toole was named MW Freshman of the Year and SDSU head coach Kathy Van Wyck was selected as the MW Coach of the Year.
