STARKVILLE, Miss. - Fresno State senior pitcher/utility player Michelle Moses has been named to the 2012 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-West Region First team, the NFCA announced Thursday.
This is the third-straight year that Moses has been named to the NFCA All-West Region team, as she was a second-team selection in 2010 and 2011. She also becomes the 15th player in school history to be named all-region three times in a career.
Moses has also earned first-team All-WAC honors in each of the past three seasons, becoming the 17th player in school history to do so.
She started in all 59 games for the Bulldogs in 2012 and led the team both offensively and in the circle.
Moses tied for the WAC lead with 18 home runs and led the Bulldogs with 42 RBIs. In the circle, she went 23-15 with a 2.51 ERA. Moses led the league in both strikeouts and shutouts, ranking No.6 nationally in shutouts and No. 22 in strikeouts.
Her named is dotted all over the Fresno State record books. Moses ranks No. 2 in school history with 59 career home runs, No. 3 in slugging percentage (.567), No. 5 in RBIs (175), No. 6 in strikeouts (644), No. 10 in no-hitters (3) thrown along with several other categories.
The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, and all the honorees will now be eligible for selection to one of three 2012 NFCA Division I All-American teams. In addition, conference pitchers and players of the year not selected to the regional teams were added for All-America consideration.
The 2012 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at 4 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, May 30, on NFCA.org.
