FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State head softball coach Trisha Ford announced the hiring of Carly Wynn to the Bulldogs' staff. Wynn joins the 'Dogs after spending the past two seasons at her alma mater Florida State.
"We are thrilled to have Carly join our staff," Ford said. "She is someone who has the experience both as a player and a coach that will help enrich the tradition of Bulldog softball. Carly is someone of great character and will be a fantastic mentor for our players both on and off the field."
Wynn served as a graduate assistant and volunteer assistant for the Seminoles from 2010-12. While at FSU, Wynn assisted with the offense, defense and camps.
"I am thrilled to be joining Coach Ford and Coach Pickering as a member of the Fresno State Softball Staff," said Wynn. "I'm looking forward to meeting the players and having the opportunity to help them grow as both athletes and young women. It will be very exciting to have a small part in continuing the tradition that Margie Wright has built."
Prior to joining the Noles, Wynn spent a season playing in the National Professional Fastpitch league for the Tennessee Diamonds.
As a student-athlete, Wynn was a three-time captain at Florida State. She was named to the All-ACC team three times in her career and twice to the Academic All-ACC team. Wynn was also named an Academic All-American in 2009 and 2010. The former outfielder owns the school's softball batting title with a batting average of .378 from 2007-10.
Wynn, a native of Sharpsburg, Ga., graduated from Florida State in May of 2010 with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and in December of 2011 with a master's degree in Sport Management.
