Two More Join Softball Team in 2010
Sept. 11, 2009
FRESNO, Calif. - Head softball coach Margie Wright announced the addition of two student-athletes to the 2010 roster, as Diane Runge and Courtney Moore have joined the team. Moore, originally from Northern California out of Saint Mary's high school in Berkeley, transfers to Fresno State after spending the 2009 season at Mississippi State. At MSU as a freshman, Moore was the designated player, appearing in 45 games, hitting .217 with 22 RBI's. Mississippi State posted a 27-27 record in 2009. At Saint Mary's high school, Moore was a four year varsity softball letterwinner and a four-time first team all-league selection. "It was really a great find for us when Courtney decided to come back home," Wright said. "She wanted to come back to California and we got on it right away and she is a huge addition. She has a ton of power. She primarily will be the DP here as well, but she will have opportunities to play infield. I'm really looking forward to seeing her play." Runge is another local name that Wright adds to the roster. Hailing from Buchanan high school, Runge was a four year varsity letterwinner and a first team all-league selection in 2009 after guiding BHS to the valley championship. She hit .388 with a .429 slugging percentage and a .912 fielding percentage. "Diane is a local standout that won a lot of awards and is a very good athlete and is very intelligent," Wright added. "She has a lot of speed and her ability to get on base will be a real plus for us. Her ability in the outfield to get to balls will be an advantage for our team this year." Moore and Runge join Hannah Williams and Rebecca Walker as the newcomers to the 2010 team. Williams and Walker each signed National Letters of Intent last fall.
