DAVIS, Calif. -- The Fresno State swimming team fell to UC Davis 140-111 on Saturday afternoon in a dual meet in Davis. It was the second straight dual meet loss after the `Dogs had won their previous four duals.
"We swam a lot better than we did against Bakersfield," Fresno State head coach Jeanne Fleck said. "We were much happier with our racing this weekend."
Junior Lucy Titchin set a personal best in the 1000 Freestlye and sophomore Kelly Simmons set personal bests in three different events. Titchin swam a 10:35.66 to best her previous top time of 10:39.23. Simmons set personal bests in the 200 Freestyle (1:56.01), 200 Breaststroke (2:29.03) and 200 IM (2:13.99).
Senior Brooke Fuller finished second in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:54.87. She finished just behind Davis' Sabrina Cochrane, who won the event with a time of 1:54.33. Fuller also won the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:17.94 and then was a part of the winning 400 Freestyle Relay team.
Leah Hatayama was also a member of the winning 400 Freestyle Relay team. The sophomore also was on the 200 Medley Relay team that finished third with a time of 1:49.30. Later in the meet, she finished second in the 100 Freestyle in 53.55 seconds.
"Leah did a really good job on the opening 100 of the 400 Relay for us," Fleck said.
The `Dogs will be back in action next weekend at the Beach Cup in Los Angeles where they will take on Pepperdine, San Diego and Loyola Marymount.
