FRESNO, Calif. - In the Bulldogs' final dual meet of the season, Fresno State's Stacey Luke qualified for the NCAA Zones in the 1-meter diving competition as the Dogs' 197-100 loss at San Jose State on Saturday.
"The divers did awesome," head coach Jeanne Fleck said. "They had a great meet and I am proud of Stacey for making it to Zones. That is a significant accomplishment for any diver at this level."
Hannah Prigge, who dove for the first time as the reigning WAC Diver of the Week and also qualified for the NCAA Zones in the Bulldogs' last competition at the Valley Invitational, finished second in the 1-meter event. Luke also earned a second-place finish and senior Kendra Weeks grabbed third in the 3-meter springboard event.
On the swimming side, sophomore Dani Yoho won the 50 free.
"Dani's race gives her some confidence heading into our conference meet at the end of the month," Fleck added. "It was a hard weekend as we had to shuffle our lineup due to multiple swimmers being sick. But the girls that swam did very well considering they had to swim events they were not used to.
Britney Vogel picked up three second-place finishes in both breaststroke races (100 and 200 yard) and the 200-yard individual medley.
The Bulldogs can now turn their sole focus to the end of the month and a trip to San Antonio for the 2011 Western Athletic Conference championship.
"We Are Your Team!" --- Fresno State heads to the WAC Championship in San Antonio, Texas from Feb. 21-26.
