    FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State swimming and diving team concluded its first-ever Mountain West Championship meet with an eighth place overall finish. They scored a total of 257 points finishing above the Air Force Academy with 211. San Diego State University won the MW Championship with 734 points.

    Sophomore Alex Madsen swam her fastest 200 back race of her life Saturday and set a new school record with the time of 1:58.93. She swam that career best time in the preliminary round which was also a NCAA B-cut. In the final race, Madsen swam a 2:00.09 good for an eighth place finish.

    In the 100 free, senior sprinter Dani Yoho broke the previous school record (50.20) with her fourth place finishing time of 49.90, also an NCAA B-cut. Also competing in the 100 free bonus finals was sophomore Lucy Titchin who placed 18th with a time of 51.56. The third record setting race of the night was the 400 freestyle relay team who clocked in at 3:23.13, breaking the previous record of 3:24.77 set during the 2011-12 season. The 400 free relay team consisted of Madsen, Titchin, Leah Hatayama and Yoho.

    Junior Hannah Prigge was in a close second after the preliminary round of the platform dive with her score of 243.12 only a point behind the leader. In the final round Prigge scored a 257.13 maintaining her second place finish, finding a top spot on the podium.

     

     

    In the 1650, sophomore Courtney Sheehan finished 17th with the time of 17:17.22. In the 200 breaststroke, Michelle Dockendorf was the fastest Bulldog breaststroker with the time of 2:17.75 good for a 19th place finish. In the 200 butterfly, freshman Lindsay Ruiz swam a quick race, clocking in at 2:06.27 good for a 17th place finish.
