    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Hannah Prigge opened competition at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships with an impressive eighth-place showing in the 1-Meter Springboard competition on Thursday at the Cadet Natatorium in Colorado Springs, Colo.

    Prigge recorded a score of 545.65 to get to the eighth-place finish, which came against a field of 61 divers. She was in ninth after scoring 272.10 points in the preliminary rounds. Her 273.55 bumped her up a spot to her final place in the standings.

    "She did fantastic," Fresno State diving coach Taryn Patrick said. "She bobbled a little on her first dive, but fought back all the way to the end. I am so proud of her."

    USC's Haley Ishimatsu won the event with a score of 580.20. Prigge had the highest finish out of the three Mountain West divers that advanced to the finals. Boise State's Cierra Cortney finished 10th and New Mexico's Megan Harper finished 15th.

    The senior will be back in action on Friday when she competes in the 3-Meter Springboard event.
