FRESNO, Calif. - In the final home match of 2011, the 'Dogs fell to the Idaho Vandals 135-165 Saturday afternoon at the Fresno State Aquatics Center, despite great performances by juniors Stacey Luke and Rayanne Nguyen.
In the diving well, Luke won the 1 meter while taking second in the 3 meter and Prigge took third in both diving events.
"All three divers did really well today," head diving coach Taryn Patrick said. "They kept their heads in the game and stayed focus the entire meet."
For the second time this season, Luke (Kenmore, Wash.) set a new career best dive in the 1 meter event scoring a 278.78. She set a new pool record and broke her previous record by more than three points.
"Things are really coming together for me this year," said Luke. "I feel more relaxed and more confident in each dive, especially in the 1 meter."
Rayanne Nguyen, a junior from Santa Barbara, Calif., won the 100 Butterfly with a speedy time of 59.60 and won the 200 Butterfly with a 2:08.66.
"Rayanne had two wins today and that was big for us," head coach Jeanne Fleck said. "She did really awesome in the 100 and 200 Yard Butterfly. She had a great, great meet."
"Our breastroke events were also good today," said Fleck. "Britney Vogel had a solid time and Dockendorf swam her event well too."
Picking up wins today were Luke (1 meter dive), Nguyen (100 and 200 Butterfly), Michelle Dockendorf (200 Breastroke), Dani Yoho (50 Freestyle), Britney Vogel (100 Breastroke), and Courtney Sheehan (1000 Freestyle).
The Bulldogs will continue their winter workouts to prepare for the triple-dual meet on Saturday, Jan. 14 at noon. The teams coming will be CSU Bakersfield, CSU East Bay, and San Diego State.
