    Fresno State's swimmers and divers are packing up their caps, suits & goggles and taking off to the southwest for the highly anticipated WAC Championships at the Palo Alto Natatorium in San Antonio, Texas, Feb. 25-28. The 2009 conference meet will be the first-ever championship event experience for these Bulldog swimmers and divers. The four-day event will feature nine teams, including New Mexico State, Idaho, Hawai'i, Nevada, Boise State, Northern Arizona, University of San Diego, San Jose State and Fresno State. The `Dogs have shared one-time meetings with Boise State and University of San Diego and have faced San Jose State three times in the regular season.

    Scouting the WAC
    Day one of the championships will kick off at 4:30 p.m. PT on Wednesday, Feb. 25, with the 200-yard medley relay and 800-yard freestyle relay finals. Leading the competition in regular season records is San Jose State, 16-1 with just one loss to Stanford. The Aggies of New Mexico State lurk as a potential threat, possesing a 10-7 record, while Northern Arizona is 6-4. The `Dogs are 0-8 the meet but comes off a diving triumph over Fresno Pacific last Saturday. Events will commence Thursday with a set of preliminary invidividual events along with diving, followed by the finals for those who qualify with top times.
