FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State swimming and diving team will offer Learn-to-Swim clinics this summer at the Aquatics Center. The clinics will be available for anyone three years of age and older.
"We are really excited to offer swimming lessons this summer, as it's our first time doing so," said head swimming and diving coach Jeanne Fleck. "We really want to do something for our community and staff members here. We want to give a service to them and by holding lessons 5-7 p.m., we give parents the opportunity to bring their kids after work."
The clinics will be conducted in group lessons with three to six swimmers per instructor. There will be two sessions and each session will be two weeks long. Session One will be held June 3-June 13 and Session Two will be held June 17-27.
The swimmers will attend eight 30 minute lessons per session. Clinics will be held from Monday-Thursday from 5-6:50 p.m. and will be separated into three 30 minutes lessons per day: 5-5:30 p.m., 5:40-6:10 p.m. and 6:20-6:50 p.m.
"We really wanted to provide basic swimming lessons to the community because there are a shortage of good swimming lessons around here and with more and more community pools shutting down, we want to give the community a good opportunity to swim," said Fleck. "These clinics are all about learning the basics of swimming and teaching kids to feel comfortable in the water and not be afraid of swimming."
The cost is $80 per swimmer. Please contact assistant coach Patrick Ota at firstname.lastname@example.org or (559) 278-5149.
