FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State head coach Jeanne Fleck of the Bulldog swimming and diving team announced the 2014-15 schedule on Tuesday. The schedule is highlighted by six home meets at the Aquatics Center and a trip to the 2014 AT&T Winter Nationals in December.
"We've got a tough schedule, but not too tough," said Fleck, who enters her seventh season as head coach of the Bulldogs. "It is going to give us a lot of great experience."
The Bulldogs open the season with an intrasquad meet on Saturday, Oct. 4 before hosting the Bulldog Invitational the following weekend, which will be the first of six home meets this season.
"I'm very excited about having so many home games," Fleck said. "It's really exciting when we have such a beautiful facility to get to host the majority of our meets. The meets that we do have away are pretty exciting."
Air Force, San Jose State and Fresno Pacific will all be swimming with the `Dogs at the Bulldog Invitational.
"We got Air Force's women coming for our invitational this year," Fleck said. "We're really looking forward to them coming to visit us and swim in that meet. That will be really fun because they've never been here before."
After the Bulldog Invitational, Fresno State hosts conference foe Nevada (Oct. 25) and UC Davis (Oct. 31) over the next two weekends.
Following the three home dates to open the year, the Bulldogs then hit the road for three of their next four events. The headliner there is the 2014 AT&T Winter Nationals being held in Greensboro, N.C., Dec. 4-6.
"We're really looking forward to going to senior nationals in Greensboro with some of our girls in December, which is really going to be a great experience for our team for those girls that qualify," Fleck said.
Fresno State opens up the new year on Jan. 6 by facing off against Mountain West opponent UNLV along with the Bakersfield Roadrunners down Highway 99 in Bakersfield.
Following that road stretch, Fresno State is at home to host Cal State Eastbay, Jan. 10, and the four-team Beach Cup, Jan. 16-17. Loyola Marymount, the University of San Diego and Pepperdine will all be joining the Bulldogs in Fresno at the Aquatics Center for the two-day meet.
Fresno State closes out the year at the UCLA Diving Invite, Jan. 17-19, and at San Jose State, Jan. 31.
The 2015 Mountain West Championships are being held Feb. 18-21 in San Antonio, Texas. The NCAA Zone Diving Championships run March 9-11 in Colorado Spring, Colo. while the Women's NCAA Championships are held March 19-21 in Greensboro, N.C.
