FRESNO, Calif. - Head swimming and diving coach, Jeanne Fleck, announced that Fresno State will kick off the 2012-13 season at home as the host the two-day Valley Invite. The invite will take place on Friday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 13 as the 'Dogs take their first competition swim of the season against reining NCAA national champions, the California Bears.
"I am very excited about our schedule this season," said Fleck. "We are swimming against the national champions in our pool which will be rough, but a great experience for our team. We also are going to an invite in Houston where we can take our whole team which will be really nice."
Following its home opener, Fresno State will host at double dual meet on Saturday, Oct. 27 at noon against conference opponent Nevada as well as cross-town rival Fresno Pacific University.
The Bulldog divers will compete in two separate diving invitationals, with the first on Nov. 2-3 at USC and the second Jan. 11-13 at UCLA. These invites have pooled some of the best collegiate divers in the country and have proven to be a great area of competition.
Fresno State travels to Houston, Texas to compete against Mountain West opponents: Colorado State and Wyoming in the Houston Invitational from Nov. 15-17. The 'Dogs will then travel to San Diego, Calif. to compete against another Mountain West opponent, San Diego State on Saturday, Dec. 1.
To kick off 2013, Fresno State will compete at CSU Bakersfield on Saturday, Jan. 5 against conference team UNLV and the hosting Roadrunners. From Jan. 18-19, the Bulldogs will be in southern California competing at the Beach Cup against USD and Loyola Marymount and to wrap up January competition UC Davis will come to the Fresno State Aquatics center on January 26 for a dual meet at noon.
On Saturday, Feb. 2 the 'Dogs will compete at San Jose State as their final dual meet of the season. The Mountain West Championships will be held February 20-23 in San Antonio, Texas.
The NCAA Zone E Diving meet will be held March 14-16 and the NCAA Championships will take place from March 21-23 in Indianapolis, Ind.
