FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State's Michelle Dockendorf was named the Verizon WAC Swimmer of the Week for Oct. 13-19.

"We are very excited for Michelle," said head coach Jeanne Fleck. "Michelle did a great job this weekend and swam very well. This is a great honor to start her collegiate career and it is only the beginning."

Dockendorf, a freshman from Santa Barbara, Calif. (Dos Pueblos), scored the most points for the Bulldogs as she placed in the top-10 in six events at the University of Pacific Invite on Oct. 15-16.

In her first collegiate swim meet, Dockendorf was the individual winner in the 200-yard breaststroke, recording a time of 2:21.79. She also claimed fourth in the 400 IM, eighth in the 100 breast, sixth in the 200 IM and helped the 800 Freestyle Relay and 200 Medley Relay teams to a seventh-place finish.

Dockendorf helped Fresno State earn nearly a third of its points (111 out of 346), as the Bulldogs took fourth place.

Dockendorf started her collegiate career with a victory in the 200-yard breaststroke and over the summer of 2010 she claimed another victory in this same event. Dockendorf qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trial Standards in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:34.44. She competed at the California Junior Olympics in Thousand Oaks, Calif. and the USA Swimming established time standard for the 200-yard breaststroke is 2:35.99.
