Yoho Ranks 5th In the Nation for 50 Free
Dani Yoho, a native of Sugar Land, Texas, won the 50-yard freestyle race at the Early Bird Invite over the weekend with a speedy time of 23.41. This time ranks her fifth in the nation for that event and also marks her as the fastest 50 free sprinter in the Mountain West Conference. "We are really excited about where Dani has started this season," said head swimming and diving coach Jeanne Fleck. "She is on track to having a great senior season."

Luke and Yoho: Mountain West Swimmer and Diver of the Week
Seniors Dani Yoho and Stacey Luke earned Mountain West Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week honors, respectively, for meets contested from Oct. 8-15, 2012. It is the first Mountain West career honor for both student-athletes. Yoho's speedy season opening performance ranked her as the top 50-yard free sprinter in the Mountain West and Luke's performance on the springboards qualified her for Zones.

Reflection On The Early Bird Invite
The Bulldogs came out on fire for the first meet of the season as they finished second behind defending National Champion Cal. Senior Dani Yoho was the lone Bulldog to win a swimming event, setting a new pool record in the 50-yard freestyle. Divers Stacey Luke and Hannah Prigge both qualified for Zones in the 1- and 3-meter dive.

Fleck's Outlook On Swimming Tough Competition
"We know we are entering a competitive conference with teams like San Diego State and Boise State that will be a tough challenge," said Fleck. "We are prepared mentally and physically to be competitive and stay inside ourselves by swimming our races and not worrying about the other teams. Why not start the season off tough?" asked Fleck. "With tough competition the team will learn and grow to develop a mental toughness that will help them throughout the season and in new conference competitions."
