Melissa McQueen enters her second season as an undergraduate coach for the Bulldog women's tennis team.
In her first year as an undergraduate coach McQueen helped the Bulldogs to the 2014 Mountain West Championship under Coach of the Year, Ryan Stotland.
McQueen assisted Fresno State (16-8) to 12 straight wins in route to their first MW Women's Tennis Championship in program history with a 4-2 victory over New Mexico on April 27.
Earning the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, the Bulldogs entered postseason play having won 14 of their last 15 matches since Feb. 15.
The Bulldogs recorded an undefeated 7-0 home record at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center in 2013 under Stotland's leadership and McQueen's assistance and put up a perfect 5-0 record in MW play and garnished several conference accolades along the way.
No stranger to the program, McQueen competed for the Bulldogs from 2009-2013 and ranks 12th all-time in Fresno State history with 72 singles victories.
As a senior in 2012-13, McQueen was named to All-MW Doubles Team with Rana Sherif Ahmed and was selected to the 2013 Spring Academic All-Mountain West team. She also earned MW Player of the Week honors twice during the spring (Feb. 27 and Apr. 24).
She went 25-12 overall and 15-7 in dual matches in singles as a senior, including posting a 9-3 record in three-set matches.
As a junior she competed in 18 dual matches, helping the Bulldogs achieve an ITA national ranking of No. 43. Then as a sophomore, she was named to the WAC All-Tournament Team and as a freshman in 2010, went 8-0 in WAC singles action.
