BERKELEY, Calif. ---The Fresno State women’s tennis team had four singles victories on the last day of the California Winter Invite at the Hellman Tennis Complex in Berkeley, Calif.

In its final tournament of the season the Bulldogs had five singles matches over Cal Poly. Sophie Watts, Anne Susdorf, Sofya Malysheva, Tanya Murtagh and freshman Claire Yang all took their matches in straight sets over the Mustangs.

The Bulldogs then dropped all three doubles matches to nationally ranked California. Murtagh and Malysheva doubled to put up a fight in an 8-5 loss to the 48th-ranked team of Denise Starr and Zsofi Susanyi.

“This weekend was a good starting point to see where we are at and see what we need to work on.” said Fresno State head coach Ryan Stotland. “We need to keep improving, it’s clear that we need to keep working harder and we are going to get there.”

Fresno State is set to open its dual season at Clemson on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Clemson, S.C. for ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
