No. 4 Women of Troy Continue Win Streak Over 'Dogs

By Stephanie Juncker LOS ANGELES, Calif. ---The Fresno State women's tennis team fell victim to another 7-0 defeat to the No. 4 USC Trojans who have won five straight shutout matches. Fresno State moves to 2-2 on the year with wins coming over higher ranked opponents and losses to two ITA top five programs. "Overall it was a great weekend," said head coach Ryan Stotland. "We got a big win on Friday and we'll be moving up in the rankings. We have a lot of heart and a lot of fight and we look to continue getting better." In doubles the Women of Troy, secured the doubles point with two 8-4 wins on Courts 2 and 3. The highlight of the day came for the 'Dogs at the top spot as Aishwarya Agrawal and Bianca Modoc rallied to win a tiebreaker over No. 13 DeSimone/Scandalis 8-7(6). In singles, the Trojans rolled securing wins at all six spots. Fresman Anneka Watts played tough at No. 6 securing the only singles set for the 'Dogs, but ultimately fell in a third set tiebreak to Valeria Pulido 2-6, 6-3, 1-0(10-4). Next up for the 'Dogs is a trip to the Bay Area with matches against Univ. of San Francisco and Santa Clara next weekend. #4 USC 7, #56 Fresno State 0 Feb. 2, 2013 - Marks Stadium SINGLES
