Arizona State Tops 'Dogs 6-1
Feb. 16, 2013
By Stephanie Juncker TEMPE, Ariz. --- The Fresno State women's tennis team fell 6-1 Saturday afternoon to a tough Arizona State squad in Tempe, Ariz. "We battled hard today against a top team," said head coach Ryan Stotland. "We had our chances today but didn't take them, but I think we took a step forward and learned a lot from today's match. I think you can learn a lot more from losing than you do from winning." The Sun Devils got on the board first with a sweep of all three doubles matches. In singles, ASU clinched the match with wins on the even courts. Senior Bianca Modoc picked up a point for the 'Dogs on court five with tough fought 6-4, 7-6(5) victory. "Our goal is to take what we learned into next week and the weeks after to come out on top. We are going to have a great week of practice and we are very excited to be at home. It's been a lot of traveling and we are ready for Friday's home match against Sacramento State. We really hope that our fans come out to support us and keep supporting our great season." The 'Dogs are back in action next week as they take on Sacramento State Friday at 1 p.m. and UC Davis Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. #29 Arizona State 6 #52 Fresno State 1 SINGLES
