FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State began its Beehive State road trip with a match against Utah on Friday in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Utes came away with a 7-0 victory.

Senior Renata Kucerkova and sophomore Laura Pola each battled hard in close matches.

Pola went to a super-tiebreaker set, with the Utes' Evgenia Krychkova picking up a 6-1, 6-7 (7-5), (12-10) victory.

At the No. 1 position, Kucerkova went to a tiebreaker in both sets with Utah's Anastasia Putilina, with the Ute coming away with a 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (13-11) victory.

"We played in a very tough environment and had some opportunities to captilalize," Fresno State head coach Simon Thibodeau said. "We are looking forward to playing BYU on Saturday."

The Bulldogs will next be in action against BYU on Saturday in Provo, Utah.
