Fresno State Takes on Utah

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State began its Beehive State road trip with a match against Utah on Friday in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Utes came away with a 7-0 victory. Senior Renata Kucerkova and sophomore Laura Pola each battled hard in close matches. Pola went to a super-tiebreaker set, with the Utes' Evgenia Krychkova picking up a 6-1, 6-7 (7-5), (12-10) victory. At the No. 1 position, Kucerkova went to a tiebreaker in both sets with Utah's Anastasia Putilina, with the Ute coming away with a 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (13-11) victory. "We played in a very tough environment and had some opportunities to captilalize," Fresno State head coach Simon Thibodeau said. "We are looking forward to playing BYU on Saturday."
