The No. 48 Fresno State women's tennis team beat Louisiana Tech, 4-0, in the first round of the WAC Championships on Thursday at the NM State Tennis Complex.
The Bulldogs (19-4) took the doubles point from LA Tech (14-8) with back-to-back wins from the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams. Junior Bianca Modoc and freshman Aishwarya Agrawal defeated Vivian ten Dolle and Maartje de Wit, 8-0, at No. 2 and juniors Olga Kirpicheva and Melissa McQueen topped Laura Fernandez and Alena Erofeyeva, 8-1, at No. 3.
In singles, the `Dogs clinch the win with three consecutive victories. At the No.1 spot, 41st-ranked singles player Marianne Jodoin defeated Fernandez, 6-3, 6-1. At No. 4 Modoc bested Anna Zurek, 6-2, 6-2, and freshman Anne Susdorf beat Melanie Urvoy, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 6.
The Bulldogs continue on with their hunt for the 2012 WAC Championship title.
