FRESNO, Calif. --- The Fresno State women's tennis team wrapped up day two of the Cal Nike Invitational in Berkeley, Calif. The Bulldogs won five matches during the second day of the invitational.
In the gold singles consolation flight quarterfinals, Olga Kirpicheva defeated seventh-seeded Natallia Pintusava 6-3, 3-6, 1-0(4).
In the doubles gold consolation quarterfinals Melissa McQueen and Olga Kirpicheva teamed up to top Katharina Knoebl and Sophi Lohscheidt in a close tiebreaker 9-8(5). The duo of Aishwarya Agrawal and Bianca Modoc also playedin the gold quarterfinals, but fell 8-2 to Arizona State's Hannah James and Joanna Smith. The pair of McQueen and Kirpicheva returned in the semifinals and fell to Nevada's Emma Verberne and Michel Okhremchuk 8-5.
In the White doubles flight, Anne Susdorf joined forces with Rymman Maslova of Nevada to win 8-5 over USF's Blair Reed and Melind Akerbrandt.
In singles action, Bianca Modoc fell in a close contest to McKenna Maddox of BYU in the Blue flight quarterfinals 6-4, 7-6(3). In the round robin consolation singles Anne Susdorf fell 7-5, 7-6(3) in a tight match and Melissa McQueen came out on top 7-5, 6-2 against San Jose State's Sabe Leon Chao.
The 'Dogs will wrap up the Cal Nike Invitational Sunday and will have two remaining tournaments this fall.
