BERKELEY, Calif. --- The Fresno State women's tennis team finished the final day of the Nike Cal Invite on a positive note on Sunday in Berkley, Calif.

The Bulldogs went 3-for-4 in singles and finished the day with one doubles victory.

Junior Anne Susdorf defeated Nevada's Juliette Legendre (7-6(5), 6-4) and Sofya Malysheva beat Ana Pimienta of Marquette in straight sets (6-3, 6-3).

Sophomore Sophie Watts grabbed a big win for the 'Dogs, defeating USC's Gabriella DeSimone, 6-3, 7-5. DeSimone had an ITA preseason ranking of 56.

"Sophie had a really good win," said Fresno State head coach Ryan Stotland. "I am very proud of all of the girls today."

The Watts twins concluded the day with a doubles win over Justine Deleval and Sabi Leon-Chao of San Jose State (8-3).

"We definitely got better today and I think we learned a lot which was the key to this first tournament," added Stotland. "We are growing and competing and I think we made a huge step today."

The Bulldogs next compete at the St. Mary's Invite in Moraga, Calif., Oct. 11-13.
