    FRESNO, Calif. - Melissa McQueen, Abby Hayley and Anna Mikhaylova start off strong with wins doubles and singles.

    Fresno State will be competing in the white flight this weekend, ranked the middle flight, with the red flight ranked above and blue flight ranked below.

    In the white doubles round of 16, Hayley and McQueen defeated Claire Dodge and Kristina Zauere from Gonzaga, 8-5.

    In the white singles bracket round of 32, Mikhaylova defeated Santa Clara's Carmen Pham, 7-5, 7-5 and advanced in the round of 16 where she took on Washington's Alksndra Krsljanin. She earned the victory after going three matches, 7-5, 1-6, 6-4 and advances to the quarterfinals.

    Also competing in the white singles round of 32, Hayley took on Pacific's Julia Hansen. After going to a tiebreaker in the first set, she dropped the match and moved to the consolation bracket, 6-7(7), 6-3, 6-1.

    In the consolation bracket, Hayley conquered Gonzaga's Clair Dodge, 6-3, 6-4.

    McQueen, who was seeded No. 5 in the white singles bracket, withdrew from both of her matches on account of being ill.

    St. Mary's Invitational will continue today and tomorrow.
